Flashback : Look Development ...
Worked closely with the sequence Director to develop a new style for Isabelle's Flashback story.
This sequence takes place in her native Island and it needed to evoke the feeling of a lost memory. The main challenge was to create something poetic and with a fresh new approach while staying true and working together with the Original TV Show design, used for the rest of the Feature Film.
After an initial research on the design of the location, I created Concepts, Layouts and Backgrounds and build up references for the COMP artists on how handle the vector based characters design to achieve a cohesive look between Animations and the Backgrounds artwork.
Here you can see a selection of Artwork produced from original concept to final COMP:

Storm sequences ...
The storm, hitting Puffin Island, is a big narrative element of the movie. It reflects the level of danger and mood of the characters' quest.
Its progression, through out the movie, has been carefully mapped, from Isabelle's first sight at the cliff, to the climax of the story, to make sure it supported the narrative arch.
Below there is selection of the Artwork I've created to guide the Team:

Bat Cave ...
The Marsh and the Bat Cave are two new locations visible in the Feature Film that never appeared in the Original TV Series. Working directly with the Director and Storyboard team I researched and develop the Locations, Colour and Light Design for the area, to make sure they would support the story and work together with the existing locations.

Environment Design ...
While researching and designing the new locations, I was also creating new original artwork to explore compositions and mood for specific moment of the Film, helping translate the Visual Language of the Original TV Series into a Feature Film style, without loosing the charm of the show.
Lots of existing locations needed to be adapted, expanded or redesigned to accommodate the new story and especially a larger crowd of puffin, eg: the Burrow area.
Here you can see a small selection of the artwork I produced, used later by the Teams at PreProduction and Production stage:
